Venue Scouting

Posted on 3 December 2016
We totally fell in love with the view, several shades of blue

Let the fun begin!

First of all, Bali is not our first choice; but having a wedding celebration with a view is definitely our priority. Blame it to the adventurous blood in us, we made a list of destination wedding in some of the islands in Indonesia as well.

Some of the options:

  1. Raja Ampat, Papua – Lydia
  2. Komodo island, West Nusa Tenggara – Dennis
  3. Gili island – Lydia
  4. Bali – Dennis

Then on the first possible schedule we had together, we jumped on a plane to one of the destination, Bali.

The island has been our favorite to visit since it is really close to where I live – approx. 45 mins; and it has a lot to offer! The scenery is outstanding – from rice fields, beaches, temples, jungles, rivers, cliffs facing ocean, Bali has it all.

We listed some of the venues of our choices, which we researched befor via online, and made some reservations. Because Bali is very popular for destination wedding, it is suggested to make a reservation before visiting (they would call this: inspection).

There are some areas in Bali to take into account. Most of the popular area in the lower to middle of the island has already have great infrastructure and developed for tourism, meanwhile the middle to upper part is not so developed. Therefore, we are focusing on the lower to middle part of the island.

Beach house with a view?
  • The bottom part, is very famous for the cliff view venues, facing Indian Ocean.
  • The upper west part, is a great venue for chasing sunsets.
  • Meanwhile in the upper east side, they had dramatic black sands on its beaches.
  • In the middle part, is mostly jungles and river view.

3 days of venue scouting was so much fun! We got chances to see the most beautiful beach houses and resorts.

“Inspiration for our house later,” Dennis said.

We finished each day with discussion upon our “findings” that day, and we had a list of top 3 venues, which updated each venue visit.

UPDATE

Our choice went to Villa Ombak Biru, at Batu Belig – Seminyak. We loved everything about the place, it is minimalist, by the beach, and spacious. It is a perfect blank canvas that we have been looking for!
