If there’s “Most Unusual Hotel” list based on Dennis and Lydia (who knows, maybe there will, soon?), this hotel will definitely on the list.
Natur-Resort Tripsdrill is one of that charming accommodation that you will have lasting impression of.
When Dennis asked me, “do you want to spend a night in the forest?”, I was so tempted to say “I don’t”. Having a 5 months old baby with us during the trip, I was already thinking that I would need to prepare a lot, plus it’s winter, plus it’s only one night. And more of “who knows”, “what if”, those mom-doubts came to mind first. However, its tempting because to be honest – it’s been months since we last explored a place. And so, with low expectation, I said yes.
Entrance of Tripsdrill made me think about Jurrasic Park, it was this huge arched woodlogs with winter forest (we went there on February) as the background. When we entered the housing compound, the excitement built. WE ARE STAYING IN A TREEHOUSE!
And oh, it’s not a usual treehouse. It’s somewhat resembled Winnie The Pooh tree house! It has this medieval, fairytale charm, with whimsical little details hammered to each and every houses there. My Disney heart was so excited!
Welcome to Adlerhorst, our assigned house!
Next to the treehouse compound, there was this 47 hectares-huge wildlife park, with 50 different animal species live there. You can walk through the park, and encounter the animals, some were roaming free, and some were in their designed enclosures. There we encountered deer, eagles, foxes, and many more!
It was the closest Kirana ever been to nature, and she seemed to enjoy it a lot, as she smiles more during our walk. It was cold – around 5-10 degrees but seemed like she didn’t mind that at all.
We had the best quality time also at night – it was all dark outside, and the treehouse is soooooooo comfy, with heated floor!

Sitting here writing this blog while dealing with Covid-19 noise, made me sad. When I was there, I thought to myself, “this is a clear blue sky, what about if we just tell to our children that this situation was ‘once upon a time’?”. Let’s not take this nature’s gift for granted ever again.
When this situation is over, let’s go explore again!
